Many of these domains also do not have the standard life cycle and renewal periods known for the familiar .COM/.NET domains.

ARGENTINA – .COM.AR
Owner contact must be local. 1-2 year term allowance. Allow 5 business days to process registrations. Maximum of 200 domains per registrant. No redemption or grace. Auto-renew by default. No authorisation code.

ASCENSION ISLAND – .AC
No residency requirement. 1-2 year term allowance. 1 year is added to the registration term upon transfer completion. Auth code required. 1 or 2 year renewals only. No grace period and 90-day Redemption.

ANGUILLA – .AI
No residency requirement. 2-year term only – auto-renew status. Registrar transfers do not renew the domain – please contact Support for transfers. No grace, redemption, or auth codes. Registry-level Locking available for increased security coming soon.

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA – .AG

BRAZIL – .COM.BR
Need Brazilian presence to hold ownership – will need to provide either a CPF or CNPJ Number. Individual ownership needs Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas [CPF] (11 digits) OR Company ownership needs Cadastro Nacional de Pessoas Jurídicas [CNPJ] (14 digits). 73-day grace period. NO redemption period. If not set to auto-renew, must be renewed at the latest 4 days prior to expiry or it is deleted and enters redemption. NO transfers permitted. 1-10 year term.

BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS – .VG
New registrations and transfers are currently unavailable for this TLD.

CANADA – .CA
Canadian presence required. A 1 to 10-year term allowance. 1 year is added to the registration term upon transfer completion. Auth code (CIRA password) required. Whois privacy is on by default for individual ownership and off for non-individual ownership at the registry level. The Renewal grace period is 40 days and there are no fees for redemption. Registry-level Locking available for increased security.

COCOS KEELING – .CC  (privacy registration allowed)
No residency requirement – 1 to 10 years term allowance. 1 year is added to the registration term upon transfer completion. Auth code required. 40-day Grace and 30-day Redemption periods.

CHILE – .CL
Registrant must be local – 1 to 2-year term allowance – For registrations, individuals must submit an ID card number; organisations must submit a tax number. Admin contact must be a person. No change for transfers as they don’t renew from the transfer process. No redemption.

COLOMBIA – .CO  (privacy registration allowed)
No residency requirement – 1 to 5 years term allowance. 40-day grace renewal period – 15-day Redemption period.

PUERTO RICO – .COM.PR
No residency requirement – 1-9 year term allowance. Transfers add one year. No grace, 30-day redemption. Allow 2 to 5 business days to process requests. Auth code required. Must cancel 33 days in advance of the expiry date if not renewing.

SAINT LUCIA – .LC
No residency requirement – 1-10 years term allowance. One year is added for registrar transfers. No grace or no redemption so you must cancel 3 days prior to expiry if not renewing. Auth code required.

URUGUAY – .COM.UY

MAYOTTE – .YT

REUNION ISLAND – .RE
The owner must be a local resident of Reunion Island or a citizen of France. Admin contact must reside in France – 1-year registration – No grace or redemption periods. The new term begins at the transfer date. Nameservers need to pass the AFNIC zone check before registration.

SEYCHELLES – .SC
No residency requirement – 1 year registration. No grace or redemption periods. Auth code required. 1 year added to the term for reg transfer.

No residency is required. 1 – 5 year term. No grace or redemption. No change to the registration period for transfers. Auth code required. The billing contact is mandatory.

SOUTH AFRICA – .CO.ZA / .NET.ZA / .ORG.ZA / .WEB.ZA
No residency requirement – 1-year term allowance. No change to the registration period for transfers. Transfers will take 5-10 days to complete. Unfortunately, we are unable to support the addition of .ORG.ZA domains with 3 characters or less. Updating the owner is a 5-day process that requires our assistance.

 

EUROPE

EUROPE – .EU
European presence required. Individuals can reside outside of the EU, but businesses must be in the EU. 1-10 year term allowance. No whois privacy. Individuals must not fill in Organisation Field, so their data will not be shared in the Whois. No grace period, 40-day redemption. If not renewed by the expiry date, the domain is deleted at the end of the expiry month. 1 year added to reg term; allow up to 21 days for the transfer to complete. For transfers, you must specify at least one nameserver. Auth code is required for transfers.

AUSTRIA – .AT
No residency requirement. 1-year term allowance. No grace period and a 59-day redemption period. Auto-renew ~ 2 days before expiry. Auth code required. Change of ownership requires paperwork to be filled out and submitted. Cancellation of registration also requires paperwork. As of 01 March 2026, .AT will not require paperwork to cancel registration, and the standard renewal process will be in place.

BELGIUM – .BE
No residency or operation in Belgium required. 1-year term only. New term begins at the transfer date. Auth code required. No grace period but there’s a 40-day redemption period. The registrant receives an email from the registry to validate online. The .BE Registry does attempt to validate domains upon registration and will also monitor active registrations.

CROATIA – .COM.HR
No residency is required. 1 to 2-year term – No change to reg period for transfers. No auth code is required. No grace or redemption periods.

CZECH REPUBLIC – .CZ
No residency is required. 1-year term. No grace, but there’s a 30-day redemption. The new term begins at the transfer date, Auth code is required. To change the ownership, there is a $30US fee. Auto-renew by default.

DENMARK – .DK
No residency is required. 1-year term. No grace or redemption. There is no change to the reg period for registrar transfers. No auth code. Nameservers must be registered with the registry before they can be used. The registry will delete domains with invalid registrant address data. Auto-renew 40 days before the expiry date. Starting in late August 2025, the .DK registry, Punktum DK, will begin publishing the registrant email address in the public Whois for all company-owned domains. Please be sure to include the email address you want to be made public for the registrant.

IRELAND – .IE
Owner must be a business entity – the registrant must be situated in Ireland, other contacts do not. Please provide a valid CRO number to show the connection with the island of Ireland as a company. The registrant cannot be changed as part of the registrar transfer – the application must be consistent with the current whois. The registrant’s email address must belong to the registrant (reseller emails not permitted). Admin contact must have a different name from the registrant. The term is 1 to 10 years. There are 40-day grace & 30-day redemption periods. Registrar transfers create a new term period. Whois privacy is not available.

FINLAND – .FI
Additional information is required for the registrant, whether Finnish or foreign (organisation: business number, individual: Finnish personal ID number, birthdate if foreign). 1 to a 5-year term. No grace or redemption. For registrar transfers, no change to the renewal date and no charge. Nameservers must be set up before registration. Auto-renew ~32 prior. There is a charge for ownership changes and requires contacting our Support team to coordinate the update. For DNSSEC support on .FI, please contact Support for direct assistance.

FRANCE – .FR
Presence in the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein. 1-year term only. No grace, a 30-day redemption period. Applicant must provide birth date – if born in France, then the .FR also requires a place of birth and postal code. For registrar transfers, the new term begins at the transfer date. Nameservers need to pass the AFNIC zone check before registration. Auto-renew. Whois privacy is on for individual ownership and is off for organisation ownership. Auto-renew. Cannot revoke new or existing registrations. No refunds on registrations.

GERMANY – .DE
German presence required – only allows 1 year at a time. For registrar transfers, the new term begins at the transfer date. No grace period – 32 days to cancel auto-renew before expiry. The registrant/domain administrator must assist in the cancellation of registration. As of 01 March 2026, .DE will not require paperwork to cancel registration and, the standard renewal process will be in place. GREECE – .GR
No residency is required. 2-year term. No grace or redemption. Auto-renew. No change to the registration period for transfers. Auth code required.

ISLE OF MAN – .IM
No residency requirement. 1 to a 10-year term. No grace or redemption. For registrar transfers, no change to the renewal date. Auth code required. Auto-renew at ~4 days prior to the expiry date.

ICELAND – .IS
No residency is required. 1 to 2-year term – For registrar transfers, no change to the renewal date. No auth code is required. No grace or redemption. Auto-renew ~62 days prior. At least two different name servers must be provided, and the hostnames cannot resolve to the same IP address. To perform a DNS & nameservers test, please visit the ISNIC registry – this page also provides the requirements.

ITALY – .IT  (privacy registration allowed)
Italian OR European Union presence is required. 1-year registration term only. Auth code is required, and the new term begins at the transfer date. 10-day grace expiry followed by a 30-day redemption. For registrants as individuals, they must include Codice Fiscale, and for organisations, they must have a VAT or n/a. The province must be abbreviated. Renewal is applied 15 days after expiration.

JERSEY – .JE / .CO.JE
No residency is required. 1 to a 10-year term. 28-day grace and 12-day redemption. Auth code required. Registrar transfers add one year to the reg term. If not renewed, the domain goes into ‘pending release’ status.

LATVIA – .LV / .COM.LV
No residency is required. 1 to a 5-year term. No grace or redemption. No change to the registration period for transfers. Auth code required. Auto-renew ~37 before expiry by default. An update to ownership requires a manual process and paperwork. Possible other TLDs available – .ASN.LV, .CONF.LV, .EDU.LV, ID.LV, .NET.LV and .ORG.LV.

LIECHTENSTEIN – .LI
No residency is required. 1-year term. No grace yet a 40-day redemption period. Auto-renew 2 days before expiry date. Auth code required. For registrar transfers, no change to the renewal date. Nameserver change requires the registrant to confirm via email from .LI Registry.

LITHUANIA – .LT
No residency is required. 1 to a 2-year term. No grace or redemption. No change to the registration period for transfers. Auth code required.

LUXEMBOURG – .LU
No residency is required. 1-year term. NO transfers allowed. No grace or redemption. Auto-renew. Will NOT allow a nameserver delegation until the new nameservers have a full zonefile ready to go – go to http://www.dns.lu/en/support/checking-nameservers/ to do a check.

MOLDOVA – .MD
The owner must meet residency requirements – this includes a large number of nations [Canada, USA, and Great Britain included]. 1 to a 5-year term. No grace or redemption. Registrar transfers do not add a year to the current term. No auth code is required.

MONTENEGRO – .ME  (privacy registration allowed)
No residency is required. 1-10 year term. Auth code required. 40-day grace + 30-day redemption period. Supports DNSSEC.

NETHERLANDS – .NL
No residency is required. 1-year term – New term begins at the transfer date. Auth code required. No grace period, but there’s a 40-day redemption period.

NORWAY – .NO
The owner must be local. 1-year term – For registrar transfers, no change to the renewal date and no charge. Auth code required. No grace or redemption. Maximum of 20 names per registrant; the registrant must be an organisation, individual ownership is not currently permitted; forms must be reproduced within 24 hrs on-demand.

POLAND – .PL
No residency requirements. 1-year term. Renewals cost more than the initial registration fee. No grace period and a 30-day redemption period. No change to the registration period for transfers. Starting 05 August 2025, email verification will be required for all new registrations & contact updates. Failure to verify after 48 hours will result in domain suspension (once verified, the suspension will end, and the domain is active again). Registration & renewal different pricing.

PORTUGAL – .PT / .COM.PT
Residency requirements. 1-5-year term and must be renewed 31 days before the listed expiry date. There is no change to the renewal date and no charge for registrar transfers. Auth code required. No grace or redemption. For registration, Individuals must submit their ID Card number & tax number, plus Organisations must submit their business registration number.

ROMANIA – .RO / .COM.RO
No residency requirements yet application requires either an ID card for an individual or a registration / VAT number for the organisation. 1 to a 10-year term. No grace period and a 90-day redemption period. Auth code required. No change to the registration period for registrar transfers. Auto-renew by default.

RUSSIAN FEDERATION – .RU / .COM.RU  – FEB 2025: Please note, that we are currently unable to accept new registrations and transfer orders for .RU/.COM.RU as per our registry partner.
No residency requirements. 1-year term only. No grace period and a 30-day redemption period. Registrar transfers are not currently supported. Ownership changes are not currently supported. When registering as an organisation, please be sure to put in the complete legal name (including LLC for example) or this will potentially cause a validation process at the Registry level. If you are not renewing and letting the domain expire, you must let easyDNS know 35 days before the expiry date.

SLOVENIA – .SI
No residency requirements. 1-5 year term. No grace period and no redemption period. No change to the reg period on transfers. Auth code required.

SPAIN – .ES
Domain owner must have a presence – either an NIE [Resident Alien/Foreigners ID Number] or NIF [Tax ID Number]. 1 to 5 years or 10 years. The Grace period is 10 days, and there is no redemption period. No change to the reg period on transfers. As of 20 November 2024, .ES now require an auth code for registrar transfers obtained from the current registrar. Unapproved requests will lapse after 10 days. Transfer orders will not be accepted within 16 days of the domain’s expiration date.

SWEDEN – .SE
Unrestricted presence requirement. 1-10 year term allowance. No charge for transfers; no change to the reg period. Auth code required. Change of ownership [trade transfer] costs $30 and requires a form to be completed. Individuals must submit their Swedish national ID card number [format: 710917-2770]; organisations must submit a Swedish business registration number. Organisations based outside of Sweden must submit VAT ID, and individuals must provide an ID card number or passport number. No grace period and 60-day redemption. Domain goes straight into the deactivation period and is still recoverable, but for a premium fee.

SWITZERLAND – .CH
No residency requirements. 1-year term. No grace period and a 40-day redemption period. Let easyDNS know you don’t want to renew the domain at least 30 days before expiry. No change to the reg period on transfers. If transferred less than 30 days from the expiry date, the domain is renewed, and 1 year is added to the reg term. Auth code required.

UKRAINE – .COM.UA
No residency requirements. 1-2 year term. No grace period and no redemption period. Auth code required. 1 year is added to the registration term for transfers. Listed under IMENA as registrar.

UNITED KINGDOM – .CO.UK
No residency requirement – 1-10 year registration. Privacy is available at no extra cost. Transfers are no change to the reg period unless they are in the renewal period. No auth code required. The grace period is 30 days, and redemption is 60 days. Privacy permitted for individual ownership will be opted in by default. Full privacy can be enabled.

Also available: .ME.UK / .ORG.UK – The extensions .PLC.UK / .LTD.UK / .NET.UK must be registered directly with Nominet and can be transferred to easyDNS.

easyDNS’ Nominet Tag is TUCOWS-CA

.UK – MUST have a UK address to get the .UK only domain. For .UK, it is a manual process to add it if we are the registrar of the blocking domain [eg: client owns domain .CO.UK and now wants the .UK domain]. If easyDNS is not the registrar, then there is a 30-day process that Nominet goes through to confirm with the other registrar about the blocking domain. The new registration of a .UK is subject to Nominet’s new .UK Data Quality Policy.

ASIA

ASIA – .ASIA
1-10 year registration. Normal 40-day grace and 30-day redemption. Adds one year upon registrar transfer completion. Auth code required.

AFGHANISTAN – .AF – as of September 2024, easyDNS no longer supports .AF registrations or transfers due to registry uncertainty.
No residency is required. 1 – 5 year term. No grace or redemption. No change to reg period.

ARMENIA – .AM
No residency is required. 1 – 5 year term. No grace or redemption. No change to the reg period on transfers. Registrants must submit a paper form for transfers. For registrant-to-registrant trades, a new term begins at the trade date.

BRITISH INDIAN OCEAN TERRITORY – .IO
No residency is required. 1 to a 10-year term. Auth code required. Can be renewed for 1 or 9 years. Transfer adds 1 year to reg term. Grace renewal is 40 days past expiry, then the Redemption period is 30 days with a fee of $300 USD (previously no Grace period). Allow 3 business days to process requests.

Whois Privacy Unavailable.

CHINA – .CN
Per CNNIC, effective January 6, 2010, .CN registrations by overseas Registrars are SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY. Existing domains can be renewed.

HONG KONG – .HK
ID card number and birth date of the registrant, if an individual, or business registration number for an organisation. No change to the registration period on the registrar transfer. 1-3 year term. No grace or redemption. Auth code required. There is a $100 USD fee to update whois contact data [trade] and no change to the registration period.

INDONESIA – .ID
A local owner is required. The following documents are required for the domain registration: – a copy of the SIUP, TDP, AKTA, NPWP or an equivalent Permit, or a copy of the ID card or passport. Auth code is required for transfer and renews after completion. 1-10 year registration period.

INDIA – .IN
Starting July 2025, new .IN registrations and transfers will only be available to Indian citizens and companies – no residency is required, only citizenship. Existing registrations held by foreign registrants can be retrained and renewed, but we are aware a transfer will make you ineligible to keep the domain (nameserver updates permitted, trades only to an Indian citizen or entity). 1-10 year term allowance. 40-day grace and 30-day redemption. Auth code is required, and the domain cannot be transferred for the first 60 days of registration or within 60 days of a previous transfer.

ISRAEL – .CO.IL
No residency is required. 1 to 5-year registration period (renewals too). No grace OR redemption. There is no change to registration on the registrar transfer (unless expired). Auth code is required to transfer between registrars. The auth code is valid for five days and is for one-time use. Ownership cannot be changed as part of a registrar transfer. Registrants must submit a paper form for transfers. Allow 2 to 5 days to process requests. Renewals must be paid at least 35 days before the registry expiry date due to auto-renew. Please note that it is imperative to keep your contact data up-to-date & valid as the registry has the right to revoke the domain, without notice, if they deem the data incomplete.

JAPAN – .JP
Local contact in Japan. 1-year registration only. No grace or redemption periods. Transfers are not supported. Allow 2 to 5 days to process requests. .JP’s do not have an auth code. Auto-renew deadline is 19 days before the expiry date – after this date, the renewal cannot be cancelled.

KYRGYZSTAN – .KG
No residency is required. 1 – 2-year registration. No grace or redemption. Adds one year upon registrar transfer completion. No auth code.

REPUBLIC OF KOREA – .KR / .CO.KR
The registrant must be based in the Republic of Korea. 1 – 5 year registration. No grace or redemption. Transfers are not supported.

LAOS – .LA
No residency is required. 1-10 year term allowance. No grace or redemption period. Auth code required. Can be renewed for 1 or 2 years. Transfer add 1 year to reg term.

MONGOLIA – .MN
No residency is required. 1-5 year term allowance. No grace or redemption period. Transfers are not supported. Auth code required.

MALAYSIA – .MY
Local contact in Malaysia no longer required. 1-10 year term allowance. 40 days’ grace and no redemption period. Auth code required.

EAST TIMOR – .TL

TURKMENISTAN – .TM
No residency is required. Minimum 10-year term registration period. No grace or redemption period. Auth code required. Transfer adds 1 year to the reg term.

TAIWAN, PROVINCE OF CHINA – .TW
No residency is required. 1 – 10 year term allowance. No grace or redemption period. Auth code required. Transfer add 1 year to reg term. For transfers, if the domain is held with the Taiwanese registrar, a form is sent to the Reseller for completion by the registrant. The transfer will not be completed until the form is returned to easyDNS.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – .AE
No residency is required. One-year term only. No grace and a 20-day redemption period. No change to the reg period on transfers.

OCEANIA

AMERICAN SAMOA – .AS
No residency required. 2 to 10-year term. A 28-day grace period must be renewed before 2 days expired. No redemption period. Auth code required. 1 year is added to the reg term for transfers. It can be renewed for 1 to 9 years.

AUSTRALIA – .AU
Australian presence required. 1-5 year term allowance. No change to the reg period on transfers. Registrant transfers (trades) add 1 year to the registration period and incur a charge. Allow 2 weeks to process changes of ownership. 30-day grace, no redemption. easyDNS is an OpenSRS Reseller for .AU domains.

     • .COM.AU & .NET.AU domain registrants MUST be an Australian Registered Company, Incorporated Association, Partnership or Sole Trader, Foreign Company operating in Australia, Commercial Statutory body, or if you have a Registered Business Name or Australian Trademark.

     • .ORG.AU & .ASN.AU domain registrants must be a non-commercial organisation and the domain you register must have a close relationship to the organisation it represents.

     • .ID.AU is especially for individuals who reside in Australia.

As of 24 March 2022, general availability for .AU domains are now offered. If there isn’t a second level .AU existing, you will be able to register the .AU. For example, you couldn’t register easydns.au if easydns.com.au was already registered. For second-level .AU’s that are registered, the current owner can request to secure the .AU during a launch application process until 20 September 2022 (this is the Priority launch period) – the registrant details must match exactly to secure the .AU domain. After 20 September 2022, any .AU’s that haven’t been secured will now be available. Requirements for .AU is simply an Australian presence (Australian citizen, corporation, association, trademark, etc). For Priority registrations, we do require the Priority Contact ID and Priority Auth Info – please visit the registry to get this information.

CHRISTMAS ISLANDS – .CX
No residency is required. 1 to a 5-year term. No grace or redemption. Auth code required. Transfers are not supported.

FRENCH SOUTHERN AND ANTARCTIC LANDS – .TF

No residency is required. 1 to 10 years term. Redemption period is 90 days from the deletion date (which is 6 days before the expiry date). There is a 45-day grace renewal period. No change to reg period on transfers (unless expired). A UDAI [Unique Domain Authentication Identifier] code is required for transfers – must contact your registrar to obtain this code. Only individuals can use domain privacy.

NIUE – .NU
No residency is required. 1 to a 10-year term. No grace or redemption period. Auth code required. Can be renewed for 1 or 2 years. Transfer does not change the reg term. PALAU – .PW
No residency is required. 1 to a 10-year term. No grace or redemption period. Auth code required. No change to the registration expiry date on transfers and no charge for the transfer (subject to DNS charges depending on the service level selected).

SOLOMON ISLANDS – .COM.SB / .NET.SB / .ORG.SB
No residency is required. 1 to a 5-year term. No grace or redemption. Auth code required. No change to the registration date for transfers.

TOKELAU – .TK –       CURRENTLY NOT SUPPORTED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES

TONGA – .TO
New registrations minimum 2-year term. Renewals are 1-year at a time (up to 3 years). Transfers add one year. Whois privacy is included at the registry level. No redemption or grace.
